THOUSANDS of Nigerians took to the streets on Thursday to demand answers and justice following the mysterious death of Afrobeat sensation Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known by his stage name, MohBad. The young pop star’s body was exhumed for an autopsy as authorities intensify their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.

Lagos police confirmed that the late MohBad’s body was exhumed on Thursday afternoon in response to growing concerns and complaints regarding the unclear circumstances of his death. The 27-year-old artist passed away last week in a Lagos hospital after being admitted for an undisclosed illness.

Protests initially erupted in Lagos, with young Nigerians demanding justice for MohBad. However, the movement quickly gained momentum and spread across the nation, fuelled by grief and a deep desire to understand the events leading to his tragic death.

In response to the mounting questions surrounding the singer’s demise, the police in Lagos formed a dedicated criminal investigations team tasked with gathering all allegations, suspicions, and insinuations from various sources. Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced on Tuesday that those who may have played a role in any events leading to MohBad’s death would be made to face the law after a thorough investigation.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also issued an appeal to the friends and fans of the departed artist, urging them to remain calm and refrain from making inflammatory statements or jumping to prejudicial conclusions. He emphasised that following due process would serve as the most solemn tribute to the memory of the talented young artist.

MohBad’s passing has not only left a void in the music industry but has also led to a resurgence of interest in his music. In one of his songs titled Sorry, the late star shared his journey of rising from a humble background and the challenges he faced while pursuing a career in music. In another track called Peace, he referred to himself as a ‘survivor’ and a ‘money chaser,’ conveying his determination to succeed against all odds.

As Nigerians continue to seek answers and justice for MohBad, the nation remains captivated by the life and music of the young artist whose death has touched the hearts of many.
