HENLEY & Partners has unveiled its 2024 Passport Rankings, putting the spotlight on the strength of African passports. Seychelles emerges as the leading African passport, securing 26th place globally and offering visa-free access to an impressive 156 destinations. Following closely, Mauritius claims the 30th position with access to 150 destinations.
South Africa takes the lead among continental African countries, ranking 53rd globally. The rankings showcase its favourable position compared to southern African neighbours such as Botswana (59th), Lesotho, Namibia (65th), and eSwatini (66th).
The East African region finds representation in the 67th position, featuring Kenya and Malawi, followed by Tanzania at 69th. Representing North Africa, Morocco and Tunisia share the 71st spot alongside Zambia.
Gambia leads the way for West Africa, securing 72nd place with a notable jump of five positions. This achievement places Gambia ahead of Cape Verde and Uganda. The list reflects the positions of various African countries, with Somalia holding the lowest rank at 99th place, providing visa-free access to 36 destinations.
