TWENTY-SIX more Ghanaian nationals arrived in Accra on Sunday having fled Ukraine, bringing the total number of citizens that have returned from the Eastern European country to 74.
The newly arrived Ghanaians, all students, were received a the Kotoka International Airport by Government’s spokesperson on Governance and Security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
According to the foreign ministry, 14 of the students arrived from Romania, 9 from the Czech Republic, and 3 from Slovakia.
The first batch of Ghanaians arrived back into the West African country on Wednesday.
Ghana is one of many African countries whose nationals are enrolled in Ukrainian universities for studies.
In light of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, many of these students have fled the country into neighbouring states, from where they seek travel options back to their countries.
Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Thomas Mbomba is currently in Hungary, where he is on a mission to facilitate the return of the fleeing Ghanaian students back home.
