RADISSON Hotel Group, a leading hotel company, is continuing its impressive growth in Africa with the signing of seven new hotels, which will contribute more than 1,400 rooms to its expanding African portfolio. The group’s latest developments include a market entry in Gambia and the introduction of new brands in key markets, such as the first Radisson Collection in Nigeria and Egypt, the first Radisson RED hotel in Nigeria, and the introduction of the Radisson brand in Kenya.
With its strong presence in Africa, Radisson Hotel Group aims to further strengthen its position in the region by opening at least seven new hotels this year, providing over 1,400 rooms to meet the growing demand. These openings will include the group’s first hotel openings in Reunion Island and Ghana, as well as expanding its resort offerings in Casablanca and Saidia in Morocco, South Africa, Egypt, and Tunisia.

Speaking at the Africa Hotel Investment Forum in Nairobi, Ramsay Rankoussi, Vice President, Development, Africa & Turkey at Radisson Hotel Group, highlighted the group’s remarkable progress in Africa. He said, ‘We are thrilled to be maintaining our growth momentum across Africa, bringing our tally of new signings for 2023 so far to seven hotels and over 1,400 rooms. Our rate of materialisation and openings is a testament not only to the quality of our pipeline but also reflects our conversion strategy in repositioning existing hotels under one of our brands.’
The new hotel signings include a range of exciting developments:
- Radisson Collection Resort, Marsa Alam Port Phoenice: Set to open in early 2025, this resort will introduce Egypt to the premium lifestyle brand, Radisson Collection. Located in Port Phoenice on the Red Sea, the resort will offer 294 carefully curated rooms, a variety of dining options, a fitness centre, diving centre, theatre, kids club, multiple pools, and direct access to the beach.
- Radisson Collection Hotel & Conference Centre, Abuja: Abuja’s first luxury hotel will be a 249-room property situated next to the Presidential Palace in Maitama District. With expansive meeting spaces and a prime location, the hotel aims to cater to both business and leisure travellers.
- Radisson Blu Beach Resort & Spa, Banjul: This 462-room beachfront hotel in Gambia will mark the group’s debut in the country. It will offer large contemporary rooms, presidential apartments, royal villas, and five food and beverage outlets. The resort will also feature a fitness and wellness centre and extensive meetings and events space.
- Radisson Blu Hotel Abuja CBD: The first Radisson Blu hotel in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, will offer 104 stylish rooms, a piano bar, an all-day dining restaurant, and fitness and wellness facilities. The hotel will also provide 245 square meters of meetings and events space.
- Radisson RED Lagos VI: Introducing the Radisson RED brand to Nigeria, this 62-room hotel in Lagos will feature a lobby bar, all-day dining restaurant, rooftop bar, gym, pool, and 249 square meters of flexible meetings and events space.
- Radisson Hotel Nairobi Airport: As the group’s fourth hotel in Kenya, this 200-room hotel near JK International Airport will provide easy access for tourists and business travelers. The hotel will offer a lobby bar, all-day dining restaurant, extensive facilities including a gym, spa, pool, retail unit, and crew lounge, as well as meetings and events spaces.
- Radisson Hotel Algiers El Mouradia: Located in the sought-after El Mouradia district in Algiers, this 148-room hotel will be the group’s second property in Algeria. With various food and beverage outlets, a ballroom, conference rooms, leisure facilities, and a coffee bar and coworking space, the hotel aims to provide a balanced experience for guests.
