NIGERIAN security forces have achieved a significant breakthrough by rescuing six female university students who had been abducted by bandits in Zamfara state in northern Nigeria.
In an official statement, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, the army’s spokesperson, confirmed the successful rescue operation involving students from the Federal University Gusau. Captain Yahaya revealed that the military had pursued the abductors into the forest where they had taken the students.
The rescue mission was initiated following the shocking abduction of about 24 female students from their rented hostels situated in Sabon-Gida, a location within close proximity to the university campus.
The bandits, reportedly, carried out their brazen attack on the student hostels at the Federal University Gusau around 3 a.m. on a fateful Friday morning. In this audacious act, three different hostels were targeted, leading to the abduction of all the students residing there, as reported by a local newspaper, Daily Trust.
This successful rescue operation represents a significant step forward in Nigeria’s ongoing battle against banditry and the abduction of innocent citizens, particularly students. Security forces in the region have been working tirelessly to combat such incidents and safeguard the lives and well-being of the country’s youth.
While six students have been successfully rescued, authorities continue to work diligently to secure the release of the remaining abducted students and to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice. The Nigerian government and security agencies remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, particularly students pursuing their education in the country’s educational institutions.
