Reflecting on last year’s parliamentary elections, King Mswati acknowledged the democratic process, stating, ‘The 2023 national elections were a watershed moment in the Kingdom of Eswatini’s history.’ He expressed appreciation for the overwhelmi
ng response of over 90 percent of eligible voters who heeded the call to vote, underscoring their dedication to national service.
Under the rallying motto of ‘Ngete Ngasala Nasakha Live,’ Emaswati demonstrated their commitment to the electoral process, a sentiment echoed by King Mswati who remarked, ‘The country as a whole deserves praise for the excellent turnout in an election that was in co
nformity with all regional and international applicable norms and best practices.’
Acknowledging the inclusivity of the elections, King Mswati extended gratitude, stating, ‘In July before the elections, we called on all Emaswati to elect more women and people with disabilities to parliament and the nation responded positively by increasing their numbers. This is commendable.’
Moreover, King Mswati expressed appreciation for the efforts of the media and the Royal Science and Technology Park, stating, ‘We also wish to thank all our media houses and the Royal Science and Technology Park for providing the nation with up-to-date information during the elections and Sibaya.’

Infrastructure priorities
On infrastructure development, the monarch reiterated the government’s commitment to strategic projects aimed at revitalising the national economy. ‘We must prioritise the completion of major capital projects,’ he asserted, stressing their role in stimulating economic activity and creating employment opportunities.
In particular, King Mswati highlighted the critical importance of advancing major capital projects and infrastructure developments. He emphasised the need to prioritise the commencement and completion of key initiatives, including the parliament building and data recovery centre. Additionally, he stressed the urgency of prioritising the International Convention Centre (ICC) and hotel for
completion in the upcoming financial year, ensuring their role in bolstering the nation’s economic prospects.
The monarch also announced promising developments in energy infrastructure, stating, ‘The nation will be pleased to know that the strategic oil reserve construction will commence in the next six months, fulfilling our fuel sufficiency objectives.’ Recognising the vital role of energy in driving economic growth, he underscored the need for investment in local energy generation to achieve self-sufficiency, particularly in light of the 2025 electricity contract with Eskom in South Africa.
Furthermore, King Mswati advocated for a comprehensive national infrastructure programme to address critical areas such as roads, power supply, offices, water, and housing. He noted that approximately 400 kilometres of roads still require tarring, stressing the importance of improving rural roads to enhance accessibility for citizens and transport operators.
‘We urge the government to utilise affordable technologies suitable for low traffic volumes to alleviate the challenges faced by our people,’ the monarch urged, highlighting the importance of cost-effective solutions in infrastructure development.
King Mswati also celebrated the nation’s commendable electrification rate of 82 percent, but cautioned against over-reliance on imported energy. ‘It is paramount to acknowledge that a significant portion of our energy is imported from our neighbours,’ he acknowledged. To mitigate this dependency, he called for heavy investment in local energy generation to ensure affordability and sustainability, aligning with the nation’s long-t
