THE Ghanaian government has announced the further easing of Covid-19 restrictions in response to a sustained decline in infections both globally and domestically. The decision comes as the country has experienced a significant decrease in Covid-19 cases over the past five months.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the remaining restrictions will be lifted, including the requirements for pre-departure testing and testing at all points of entry for passengers. Additionally, the Covid-19 health declaration form for international travellers has been suspended as of May 20.
While restrictions are being lifted, the GHS emphasised the importance of continued vigilance and protection against the virus. Covid-19 vaccinations will still be administered, and individuals presenting with symptoms such as fever, cough, and sore throat will be tested for both flu and Covid-19.
The GHS also urged the public to maintain general safety measures, including frequent hand-washing with soap and water, and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers. Individuals experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, or sore throat were advised to seek medical attention at the nearest health facility for appropriate management.
