CAPE Coast Green City project that is aimed to transform Cape Coast, a city, fishing port, and the capital of Ghana’s Central Region into a green, smart and sustainable model city has been launched.
The project is a brainchild of Mamdev Ghana Limited, a construction company and the projects lead consultant, in partnership with STEADY/X LTD, an Alternative Education Support company based in Accra, and Haitech Technologies, an Information Technology firm.
It is backed by the Government of Ghana together with the chiefs, people of Cape Coast, and persons in the diaspora.
Speaking during the launch of the project, the Chief Executive Officer of Mamdev, Kojo Mamphey, said that they have already secured the necessary agreements and Memorandum of Understanding with several stakeholders and partner companies.
‘We are now in the process to further secure investment and partner involvement with the focus on delivery. The project will begin as soon as all paperwork has been concluded,’ explained the CEO.
The scope of the project
Mainly, the project entails the reconstruction and upgrading of all major road networks within the Cape Coast and those connecting the city to other cities in the country to concrete and the development of current hospitals into specialist centres.
It also includes the improvement of the educational cradle of the country into extensive and modern research, educational and technological development centre, the development of green energy, water systems, and waste management models into integrated systems, as well as the development and upgrading of housing and hospitality centres, the improvement of tourism centres.
