ated an uninterrupted 100 hours to preparing a diverse range of dishes, showc
asing both local and international cuisines.
Throughout her marathon cooking session, Bassey received overwhelming support from the public, with President Muhammadu Buhari, politicians, and celebrities expressing their admiration for her remarkable feat. Enthusiastic supporters gathered outside an events centre to witness the 27-year-old chef skilfully crafting delicacies such as jollof rice, pasta, and akara, a popular Nigerian dish made from bean flour.
The current record for the longest cooking session is held by Indian chef Lata Tondon, who achieved a time of 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019. Bassey’s extraordinary accomplishment will require validation by Guinness World Record officials before it can be officially recognised.
Speaking about her endeavour, Bassey expressed her gratitude for the encouragement she received and emphasised her passion for inspiring others. She said, ‘It is more important to me that I am a Nigerian citizen by choice.’
Bassey’s impressive feat serves as a testament to her culinary skills, endurance, and dedication to her craft.
