LIQUID Intelligent Technologies, a leading pan-African technology company, has confirmed the successful installation of the Mauritius Telecom T3 subsea cable, connecting Mauritius to South Africa. The deployment of the T3 cable at Liquid’s landing facility in Amanzimtoti, South Africa, will significantly enhance the reliability and redundancy of connectivity between the two countries.
Deon Geyser, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Africa, expressed the company’s commitment to building a digitally connected country that leaves no South African behind. Geyser said, ‘Through our partnerships in multiple sea cables like Equiano, METISS, EASSy, and even with the T3 cable system, we have ensured that South Africans and businesses alike can leverage cost-effective, low-latency internet to serve their business-critical connectivity needs.’
The T3 subsea cable comprises four fibre pairs, offering a design capacity of 13.5Tbps per fibre pair and a total system capacity of 54Tbps. This development will bring a crucial increase in high-speed and reliable internet connectivity to economies in the Indian Ocean islands, facilitated by Liquid Intelligent Technologies’ extensive 110,000km fibre backbone across Africa.
The partnership between Liquid Intelligent Technologies and Mauritius Telecom is not only expected to bolster connectivity but also stimulate economic growth and create job opportunities for local residents.
‘This is yet another milestone achieved by Liquid SA as we continue to provide access to high-speed connectivity, the backbone for the country’s businesses to operate and succeed in this digitally transformed business environment,’ added Geyser.
The installation of the T3 subsea cable represents a significant step forward in improving connectivity infrastructure and facilitating digital advancement between Mauritius and South Africa.
