[dropcap]K[/dropcap]ENYA and Sierra Leone on Monday signed seven bilateral agreements following talks in Nairobi by delegations led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his visiting Sierra Leonean counterpart Julius Maada Bio.

President Bio arrived in Nairobi on Saturday night to begin a five-day official visit of the East African country.

On Monday, he was received at State House by President Kenyatta, where they held talks on various issues.

The seven agreements were on the establishment of Memoranda of Understanding on Political and Diplomatic Consultations; Trade and Investment; Cooperation in the Field of Wildlife Tourism; Gender Equality and Women Empowerment; Cooperation in the Field of Culture and Arts; Cooperation in the Field of Youth Affairs; and the Establishment of a Joint Commission for Cooperation.

On Sunday, President Bio attended celebrations to mark the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, a day set aside by the UN to pay tribute to the uniformed and civilian personnel who contribute to the work of the Organisation, and to honour nearly 4,200 peacekeepers who have lost their lives serving under the U.N. flag since 1948.

The Sierra Leonean leader is also scheduled to be the Chief Guest at Kenya’s Independence Day celebrations on June 1.
