Key points:

  • Flutterwave integrates Swap into Send App for seamless FX conversions
  • Nigerians can now convert naira to USD, GBP, and EUR instantly
  • Backed by the CBN, Swap simplifies international transactions

IN a move set to revolutionise cross-border payments, Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, has integrated its foreign currency exchange solution, Swap, into the Send App.

This development allows Nigerians to instantly convert naira into major foreign currencies like the US dollar, British pound, and euro, providing an easy and cost-effective FX solution. The service, backed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), aims to bridge Nigeria’s foreign exchange accessibility gap, offering a secure and reliable platform for international transactions.

A game-changer for Nigerians seeking FX access

The Swap feature, developed in partnership with Kadavra BDC and Wema Bank, is fully licensed for digital FX transactions and international outbound payments. It caters to a wide range of users, including:

  • Parents paying tuition for children abroad
  • Individuals covering emergency medical expenses for family overseas
  • Businesses engaging in international trade and transactions

With plans to expand its currency offerings, Flutterwave is positioning Swap as a vital financial tool for Nigerians looking to participate more actively in the global economy.

CEO Olugbenga Agboola on Flutterwave’s vision

Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola expressed enthusiasm for the launch, describing it as a major breakthrough for Nigerians.

‘We are incredibly excited to make Swap accessible on Send App, which we believe will be a paradigm shift for Nigerian businesses and individuals alike. At Flutterwave, our mission has always been to simplify payments for endless possibilities. Now, more than ever, Nigerians can participate fully in the global economy, sending money across borders with ease and confidence.’

A timely solution to Nigeria’s FX challenges

Nigeria has been grappling with limited access to foreign exchange, causing challenges in international transactions, investments, and financial mobility. This shortage has stifled economic growth, restricting individuals and businesses from tapping into global opportunities.

Temiloluwa Adesina, Senior Product Manager for Swap, highlighted the service’s significance in addressing these challenges.

‘We understand the unique challenges our customers face, and we are committed to providing solutions that not only meet but exceed their expectations. By making Swap accessible on Send App, we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting African customers wherever they are, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive in a global economy.’

Empowering Nigerians with secure cross-border transactions

  • The integration of Swap into Send App is set to provide:
  • Instant FX conversion at competitive rates
  • A secure, regulated, and user-friendly platform
  • Simplified international transactions for businesses and individuals

By eliminating the complexities of foreign exchange, Flutterwave is empowering Nigerians to overcome financial barriers and participate in the global economy with greater ease.

Flutterwave driving Africa’s financial inclusion

This groundbreaking innovation underscores Flutterwave’s commitment to financial inclusion and economic empowerment in Africa. As the continent deepens its integration into the global economy, solutions like Swap will play a pivotal role in bridging local and international markets.

With Swap on Send App, Flutterwave is setting a new standard for cross-border payments, ensuring that Nigerians can seamlessly access foreign currencies and unlock their full economic potential on the world stage.
