Digital Government Africa (DGA) 2023 is poised to take centre stage as the official ministerial pan-African summit, showcasing Africa’s commitment to robust digital government infrastructures. In perfect alignment with national electronic government plans across the continent, this summit is set to foster improved business environments and more efficient public service delivery.

Africa is currently experiencing a rapid wave of digital transformation, with 19 of the world’s fastest-growing economies within its borders. According to the International Finance Corporation, the internet economy in Africa is projected to soar to a staggering $180bn by 2025, constituting approximately 5.2 percent of the entire continent’s GDP.

Policymakers across Africa have harnessed this momentum, ensuring inclusivity in the digitalisation process. This commitment is evident through the formulation of national digital government strategies and the establishment of legislative frameworks addressing cybersecurity, data protection, and e-participation.

The year 2023 marks a pivotal moment for Digital Government Africa as the premier digital pan-African summit, uniquely designed to prioritize pre-scheduled meetings that unite government representatives with industry leaders.

Hosted by the Government of Zambia, this forum brings together industry solution providers, technology pioneers, and esteemed government officials. Spearheading this initiative are the Office of
the President, represented by the SMART Zambia Institute, in collaboration with the Ministries of Home Affairs & Internal Security and Technology & Science. They have extended invitations to ministerial counterparts from various corners of Africa, with 20 countries already confirming their participation.

The stage is set for government decision-makers to convene with technology and industry experts deeply entrenched in the digital realm.

The government of Zambia, in partnership with AfricanBrains, known for orchestrating Africa’s foremost ICT-centric education event – Innovation Africa, takes the lead in this endeavour. DGA 2023 serves as the ultimate nexus for forging connections and conducting business at the heart of Africa’s ongoing digital transformation journey.

The outcomes of these critical government-to-industry meetings are expected to shape the agenda for digital government infrastructure, electronic servic
es, digital identity, online taxation, and information systems security across many African countries.
