Keypoints:
- ACSII to lead trade and investment mission to Barbados in September
- Delegates from Africa, the Caribbean and the UK expected to attend
- Mission targets tourism, fintech, healthcare, education and creative industries
BARBADOS will host a major trade and investment mission in September aimed at strengthening commercial ties between Africa, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom, as governments and businesses seek new opportunities for cross-border investment and economic cooperation.
The African Caribbean Sustainability & Investment Initiative (ACSII), working alongside the Barbados High Commission in London, said the ACSII Trade-Bridge Mission to Barbados will take place from September 22–25, bringing together investors, business leaders, policymakers and diaspora stakeholders from across the three regions.
The initiative seeks to strengthen commercial ties between Africa, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom by connecting investors, businesses and policymakers around opportunities in tourism, technology, healthcare, education and creative industries. Organisers say the mission is designed to foster new partnerships, encourage investment flows and support sustainable economic growth across participating markets.
Mission aims to strengthen economic links
The initiative forms part of ACSII’s wider strategy to develop stronger commercial and investment corridors linking African and Caribbean economies with global markets.
Organisers say the four-day programme will create opportunities for trade, investment and innovation while strengthening cooperation between governments and the private sector.
Delegates are expected to include investors, entrepreneurs, trade organisations, corporate executives, development partners and members of the African and Caribbean diaspora business communities.
The programme will feature business forums, networking sessions and meetings with public and private sector representatives in Barbados.
While organisers have not disclosed anticipated investment volumes, the initiative reflects growing efforts to deepen economic engagement between African and Caribbean markets and create new channels for private-sector collaboration.

Priority sectors identified
ACSII said discussions will focus on sectors viewed as key drivers of sustainable economic growth.
These include tourism, education, financial technology, healthcare, and culture and creative industries.
Participants interested in Barbados will have the opportunity to engage directly with government officials and business leaders, explore emerging commercial opportunities and establish strategic partnerships.
Organisers say discussions will focus on identifying investment opportunities, facilitating business-to-business partnerships and exploring frameworks that could support long-term trade and investment flows between participating regions.
ACSII highlights long-term partnership goals
David F. Roberts, Founder and Chairman of ACSII, said the mission reflects growing interest in expanding commercial relationships between Africa, the Caribbean and the UK.
‘The ACSII Trade-Bridge Mission to Barbados represents an important step toward strengthening economic collaboration between Africa, the Caribbean and the UK,’ Roberts said.
‘Our objective is to create meaningful connections between investors, governments and businesses that unlock sustainable growth, innovation and long-term partnership opportunities.’
According to ACSII, the mission aligns with broader efforts to increase private-sector engagement and encourage investment-led development across emerging markets.
Barbados positions itself as investment gateway
Barbados has sought to position itself as a regional hub for finance, tourism and international business, making it an attractive entry point for investors seeking opportunities across the wider Caribbean market. At the same time, many African countries have intensified efforts to diversify trade and investment relationships beyond traditional partners in Europe and North America.
Deputy High Commissioner Mackie Holder said Barbados views the initiative as an opportunity to showcase its business environment and investment potential.
‘Barbados welcomes initiatives that strengthen international partnerships, encourage investment dialogue and create opportunities for sustainable economic collaboration,’ Holder said.
He noted that the country has been actively exploring deeper trade and investment relationships with African nations and sees the mission as a platform for building mutually beneficial partnerships.
‘This mission provides an excellent platform to showcase Barbados as a dynamic destination for trade, innovation, business engagement and investment, while creating new opportunities for international collaboration,’ he added.
Growing focus on Africa-Caribbean cooperation
The September mission comes amid growing efforts by governments, businesses and diaspora groups to expand commercial ties between Africa and the Caribbean.
Supporters argue that stronger economic cooperation could help diversify trade flows, attract new investment and create opportunities in sectors ranging from technology and healthcare to tourism and creative industries.
Under the theme Connect. Collaborate. Invest., organisers say the Barbados mission will focus on identifying practical pathways for long-term cooperation and sustainable economic development.
The event is expected to attract a broad mix of stakeholders seeking to explore investment opportunities and strengthen commercial partnerships across regional and international markets.
